Energy Special Situations Funds was formed in 2005 to provide growth capital to the energy industry, with a focus on small and mid-sized businesses, ventures and projects. ESS Funds seeks unique growth and acquisition opportunities that typically require from $5 million to $40 million of equity capital, although larger investments are possible. Our team has been involved in the energy industry since the 1970s, gaining extensive knowledge and experience with many aspects of the business and building a broad relationship network. Our industry insight is a key attribute that allows us to successfully structure and oversee the ESS Funds investment portfolio.
ESS Funds has over $340 million of private equity capital in Energy Special Situations Funds I and II. Our investors include endowments, foundations, large family investment offices and other institutional investors with long-term investment horizons. Houston Energy Advisors, LLC, our affiliate, serves as the investment advisor to the ESS Funds.
