Jon founded ESS Funds in 2005 with the principal focus of providing growth capital and assistance to companies in the energy industry. Previously, he spent 14 years with the energy private equity firm First Reserve Corporation. Jon was a founder and CFO of Intercontinental Development Corporation, a leveraged buyout of certain energy assets from Phibro-Salomon. Jon’s early career included serving as CFO of Phibro Resources, CFO of Gill and Duffus Holdings and Treasurer of Barber Oil Corporation. He began his career as a geologist at ARCO. As a private investor, Jon has formed and managed three small E&P companies. He is a Director of Range Resources Corporation. Jon received a BA in Geology from Amherst College and an MA in Geology and an MBA from Harvard University.

Tim joined ESS Funds in 2006. His activities principally include origination and monitoring of several of our E&P investments. Previously, Tim was Chief Operating Officer of Madison Energy Advisors, an acquisition and divestiture firm serving the upstream sector. Before joining Madison Energy, Tim served as COO of Sequoyah Gas Partners, an Arkoma Basin E&P company that was sold to Chesapeake Energy. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President of Acquisitions for SCANA Petroleum, Manager of Acquisitions for Torch Energy Advisors, and founder of Sultex Oil & Gas, Inc. He began his career as an oil and gas loan officer at Mercantile National Bank. Tim holds a BS in Finance from Oklahoma State University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.

Kelli serves as the Controller for ESS Funds. Previously, she held accounting and financial positions with Continental Airlines and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Kelli holds a BBA in Accounting from Sam Houston State University and a BA from Texas Tech University. She is a licensed CPA in the state of Texas.
